Jesus was born in Bethlehem, lived in Egypt for about 10 years, then moved to Nazereth where he grew up, till 30 years of age. He moved South to be Baptised in the River Jordan by his cousin, John, then traveled all around Judea, till he was tortured and murdered in Jerusalem.
ReplyDeleteInteresting to note that he did no miracles in his home town, nor, as far as I can tell, moved outside the borders of Judea...Most of his greatest works, were in cosmopolitan Galilee, which unfortunately gave his accusers the handle to falsely claim that Jesus was from Galilee. TO the Jews who were familiar with their history, Jesus' name was a version of Judas; Judas of the Maccabees who had saved their nation from the Greeks and so, to these men, Jesus must have offered the hope of salvation from the Romans, especially when Jesus spoke of his new kingdom on earth...and the promised Messiah was expected to 'set his people free'...
